For the second year in a row, Environmental Design & Construction has won an ABC Metro Excellence in Construction Award in the Heavy/Industrial/Transportation Construction projects group. The winning project was Arlington National Cemetery's bus parking facility.
EDC was contracted for the renovation of the bus parking area in Arlington National Cemetery which had deteriorated greatly in its 20 years of service. The scope of work included removing 65,000 square feet (2,750 cubic yards) of asphalt roadway and sub grade and replacing it with layers of new sub grade material (1,600 cubic yards), a new sub drain system and an 8 inch thick concrete slab with approximately 2,200 cubic yards of concrete reinforced by wire mesh. The entire project involved approximately 16,000 man hours and was accident free approximately 160 days.
We are proud to announce ABC Metro Washington has awared us the 2009 Excellence in Construction, Heavy/Industrial/Transportation Award for our Millennium Site Development Storm Water Interceptor/Diversion project located at Arlington National Cemetery.
